Hello from The Reynolds Mansion! We’re Paul and Mirlin Manshon — your innkeepers and the people who will likely greet you at the door, serve your breakfast, and send you off each morning with everything you need for a great day in Asheville. We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share a bit about why we’re here and what drives the way we welcome guests.
Our story in hospitality began in the 1990s in South Africa, where we trained in creating personalized, high-end guest experiences. Between us, we bring more than 60 years in the industry — working at fine resorts and restaurants across multiple countries. Paul’s background is in food and beverage; as a classically trained chef, he designs and prepares our four-course breakfast each morning from scratch, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Mirlin supports guest services and genuinely loves meeting and welcoming guests, sharing her local knowledge to help make each visit more personal and enjoyable. Together, our goal is simple: to be present in a way that feels attentive and warm without ever being intrusive.
In early 2019, we evaluated more than 20 bed and breakfasts across the country before finding The Reynolds Mansion. It captured us immediately — the Colonial Revival architecture, the four acres of mature grounds, the Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop, and that rare combination of quiet seclusion and easy access to everything Asheville has to offer. The warmth of the previous owners, Billy Sanders and Michael Griffith, during our visit confirmed what we already sensed: this place had a soul, and it matched ours.
We respect privacy deeply — our own and our guests’. Our approach to hospitality is attentive and friendly, not fussy. Whether you’re here for the history, the mountains, the food, or simply to slow down for a few days, we design the experience around you. We love slow, immersive travel ourselves — lingering in beautiful places without the rush — and that philosophy shapes everything we do here.
We’d love to welcome you. Book your stay at thereynoldsmansion.com and come see why The Reynolds Mansion feels less like an historic inn and more like a home. Questions? We’re always just a call or email away.
