Every stay at The Reynolds Mansion includes a four-course gourmet breakfast, cooked each morning by a classically trained chef. That part never changes. What changes is the season — and fall is the season our kitchen waits for all year.
Four courses, every morning
Breakfast here unfolds the way a good dinner does. The smell of freshly brewed coffee. A light starter — perhaps a berry smoothie served in a shot glass, followed by a fresh fruit course composed on antique china that bridges sweet and savory. A main built around a properly poached egg or a griddle course with real technique behind it. And a finish that behaves like dessert logic at 9:30 in the morning, because that is exactly what it is. It is served in the grand dining room or parlor at tables set with gold chargers and the good silver, beneath antique family portraits.
What fall changes
When the leaves change, so does the menu. The market baskets shift toward orchard fruit and deeper flavors — honey & cranberry poached pears finished with citrus and mint, apples where berries stood in July, warm spice where summer wanted brightness. The griddle courses lean richer: Benedict-style stacks over hash with ribbons of zucchini and a drizzle of avocado oil, fluffy pancakes under berry compote. Cooler mornings mean the coffee drinkers linger longer, and nobody is in a hurry to leave the table.
The poached pear deserves its own sentence. Guests photograph it more than anything else we serve — poached soft, sauced, plated on antique china — and fall is its natural season.
Why a leisurely breakfast is the point, not the perk
Most places treat breakfast as the thing to be rushed through that comes with the room. We treat the room as the thing that comes with a leisurely and delicious breakfast and great conversation. A day of Parkway overlooks and leaf-season drives runs better on four courses than on a pastry in a paper bag — and returning guests tell us the morning table is the memory that brings them back.
